Sharpening our vision the perferct nuance …
Light is a fundamental element in our daily life, being the oldest metaphor par excellence and the one that is most closely linked to our own life experience.
Therefore, knowing how to see the play of light and shadow consists in knowing how to appreciate that one does not exist without the other and that from their special relationship, the perfect nuance is born, which we can only contemplate if we know how to sharpen our vision.
If we tried to eliminate all shadows, either by turning off all light sources (which would plunge us into total darkness) or by illuminating everything uniformly (which would eliminate contrast), we would lose something essential, which is the ability to appreciate the details and subtleties that only arise when light and shadow coexist.
The perfect nuance only arises when we accept and value this relationship, because light and shadow are part of our experience and growth, because light sources do not create darkness since shadows appear by contrast.
